I led the end-to-end development of the Bilt Dexter 2 riding shoe, focusing on both its aesthetic and functional needs. From initial concept ideation and detailed sketching to technical specification and manufacturing, I crafted this entry-level riding shoe to blend casual style with essential protective features for riders. The design incorporates a robust 1.6mm leather upper for durability and visual appeal, paired with internal perforated EVA foam to enhance both protection and breathability. A custom visco-elastic polymer foam ankle cup and reinforced toe and heel counters provide targeted impact resistance, while the nylon mesh and open-cell foam tongue optimize airflow for a comfortable ride. The rubber outsole was designed for versatility across multiple styles, balancing everyday wear with riding functionality. When designing this shoe, one of the key considerations was its ability to stand the test of time, both in style and durability. The classic sneaker style construction approach was chosen to ensure that it wouldn’t succumb to fleeting fashion trends, but instead could be a staple in the rider's wardrobe for upwards of 10 years.
